Conversion Tracking CAPI Setup

Conversion Tracking and CAPI Setup

The measurement layer, implemented properly, as a standalone project.

Pixel and Conversions API with deduplication that holds, fbclid captured at form submission and stored on the contact record, and CRM stage and closed won events fed back to Meta through Events Manager Datasets.
Your existing buyer keeps the campaigns. They simply start buying against information that reflects what actually happened to the leads.

What gets built

The five steps most accounts are missing three of

1. Ad click

fbclid captured on landing and held through the session, so the click can still be identified after the visitor fills in a form.

2. Landing page event

Pixel and Conversions API firing together with matching event IDs, so the same conversion is counted once rather than twice.

3. CRM record

fbclid written onto the contact record at submission, which is the join that makes everything downstream possible.

4. Sales outcome

Stage changes in your CRM mapped to events that mean something: qualified, booked, closed won.

5. Back to Meta

Those outcomes sent to Events Manager Datasets as offline conversions, so delivery optimizes toward the people who actually bought.

Plus the reporting

GA4 and Google Tag Manager configured to agree with Meta, and Looker Studio reporting that puts the whole chain in one view.
The technical detail

What good looks like, stated as numbers

If your current setup cannot meet these, that is the gap.
Deduplication
Browser and server events share an event ID so Meta counts one conversion, not two.
Event Match Quality above 8
Enough customer parameters passed for Meta to match conversions to real people reliably.
Offline conversions
CRM outcomes returned to Meta on a schedule rather than as a one off import.

A working Pixel is about a third of it. The Pixel fires in the browser, where ad blockers, tracking prevention and iOS restrictions remove a share of every event, so Meta optimizes on what survived rather than on what happened.

The bigger gap is usually downstream. If nothing tells Meta which leads turned into customers, delivery keeps looking for people who complete forms.

No. The server side events do not run in the visitor’s browser at all, and the browser side stays as it is. If anything the setup usually gets tidier, because most sites I open have three overlapping tracking scripts nobody has removed.

I do. That is the point of offering this separately. Most media buyers can describe what needs building and then hand it to your developer, which is where these projects usually stall for six months.

Most systems that expose an API or webhooks can be made to work. HubSpot and GoHighLevel are the ones I use most often. Tell me what you run on the call and I will say plainly whether it is workable.

Yes, and it is a common arrangement. I build the signal layer, your buyer keeps the campaigns, and I stay out of their way. They get better data to optimize against, which usually makes them look better rather than worse.
